Exxaro Grootegeluk mine needed to increase their export coal capacity in order to meet the demands of the almost completed Medupi power station. They opted for an additional stacker to increase the stockpile capacity for export coal.
ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions won the tender to supply a Travelling, Luffing and Slewing stacker to Exxaro for the stockpile expansion. Because of the vast experience with bulk material handling machines and recently successful completion of a waste spreader at Exxaro, Hamar Controls secured the E,C&I installation contract from ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions which included testing and commissioning assistance.
Hamar Controls completed the project safely with no lost time injuries and out of 27 contractors won an award as the contractor with the best safety system on the site.
